Day 3

Got up at sunrise again and had a quick breakfast on the lanai (the only way to do breakfast), then headed down to Wailea Beach for about 3 hours. I fell asleep listening to the surf and got a touch burnt but it was awesome. The ocean is so good for the soul.

After showering off the sand we headed up north to Whalers Village in Ka’anipali.  This is an outdoor mall with lots of clothing, jewellery and souvenir shops.   I got my coveted Tommy Bahama shirt from Hawaii finally :)  Nancy got a Hawaii charm bracelet that is only sold in Hawaii – something that was on her list.  We also picked up some Honolulu Cookie Co. shortbread cookies, which we have read so much about.

Later in the evening we met up with Loretta, Nancy’s coworker from Husky, and her husband Mike, for dinner at 5 Palms in Kihei. They are wonderful people, very down to earth. The dinner conversation was great. They have been coming to Maui every year for the past seven years!  Before we knew it, 3 hours has passed, and we were the only customers left in the restaurant.

Back to the condo, where we crashed.  Tomorrow is West Maui beaches and the blowhole.
