Day 7
A busy day again – seems we have had a lot of those!!!
Up early, then off to Kahului to the swap meet, where we shopped again! Once again, we bought a whole bunch of goodies, more gifts for home, more island made jewellery, etc. etc. After the swap meet, we headed to Costco where Luis finally bought some aloha shirts!!
Back to Wailea where we dropped all of our purchases off, then in to Kihei for lunch at Coconuts Fish Cafe. I had read a lot of great things about this place, and they were all right on. The fish and chips was delicious!! Not greasy, very light. Kathy had coconut shrimp and Luis had calamari sticks. Steve, not being a seafood kinda guy, we next door and grabbed a burger from Peggy Sue’s. We then stopped at Hilo Hattie’s where we pretty well all finished up on our “gift” shopping. By this time, we had about an hour before we had to leave for the luau, so we headed back to the condo to get ready.
We again chose the luau at the Grand Wailea, and walked over so we could all have some drinks. Kathy and I bought some wannabe pandora bracelets (cute and very inexpensive) for ourselves, we had several chi chis, and settled in for dinner and entertainment.
We had bought premium seats but weren’t early enough to get the front row seats. We did get second row, front of stage, seats however, so had nothing to complain about.
The food was great, typical luau food, and we had some very nice table mates. A couple from Sacramento, newlyweds on their honeymoon from England and a young couple from LA. Kathy and I DID get up to learn the hula, but she chickened out and snuck off the stage!
The entertainment was great. Pretty well the same as it was 2 years ago, but very enjoyable. Afterwards, we walked back to the Marriott along the ocean path, then up to the condo (up up up up hill, puff, pant, pant).
A fun, busy and very entertaining day, and our first week in paradise was over.
