Day 6 – Snorkelling and Shopping

Today was a busy day.  We were up early because we did the early morning 2 hour snorkeling trip with Kai Kanani.  Check in was at 6:00 a.m. and we were out at Molokini Crater just before 7:00.  We love this company and the length of their snorkeling trip is perfect for us – 45 minutes in each of 2 spots.  Luis has done a lot of snorkeling but Kathy had never been.  Steve and I had been on this same trip 2 years ago, so this was our second time.  We all had a great time.  Kathy was the first one on the boat to spot a “magnificent snake eel”, which the crew told us was quite rare.  10 points for Kathy!!!

From Molokini, the boat went over to turtle town, where we all saw turtles.  I wasn’t out long, as I wasn’t feeling well, but the others all saw more than the one that I saw.  There were a lot of turtles on the surface!!!  The water was a bit more murky here though, so it wasn’t the amazingly clear world of ocean that it was at Molokini Crater.

We were back at the car by 9:00 a.m. – still had the full day ahead of us!!  After showering the salt off of us, we headed up to Lahaina for a day of shopping.  And we certainly did shop.  A lot!!!  I got my pineapple pandora charm, as well as a few more pieces of “island made” jewellery.  Kathy and I bought ourselves sarongs, Kathy did a ton of her “gift” shopping, let’s just say that the trunk was full on the way back!

We had lunch at Cool Cat’s which is Steve’s favourite burger place, wandered around the banyan tree, shopped some more, then dragged our tired butts back to the car, where we collapsed, exhausted!!!  On the way back, we stopped at Leoda’s where we picked up some baked mac & cheese and tuna salad to eat at the condo.

Back to the condo, where we just hung around, very tired.
