It’s impossible to sleep-in here. Maybe it’s the time change. Maybe it’s because we don’t want to miss a second of daylight in this wonderful place. So Steve was up at 5:30, I lazed around in bed until 6:00. Another beautiful peaceful morning – it’s so quiet in the morning – just the sound of the birds outside. Looking out on the ocean does a person good.
Fresh papaya and coffee for breakfast. What a difference in taste of the fruit!!
We decided to go to the swap meet in Kahalui, as we don’t have swap meets back home. That place was crazy! Booth after booth after booth of the same dresses, sarongs, t-shirts, aloha shirts and jewellery. And lots of fresh produce. I picked up 5 papayas for $5 (!!!) and a dragon fruit (Kevin said they were delicious, so we decided to try one). Also bought a sundress. We spent a couple of hours there and then headed back. Stopped in Kihei for lunch at “Life’s a Beach” – it’s quite a dive, but I had read some good reviews about it- and their lava flows were great! Steve said the burger was great there. The fish and chips – not so great.
Back to the condo for a short nap and then to the beach for a couple of hours. It was late afternoon and the beach cleared out pretty quickly around 4:30. We stayed until 5:00 and there was only one couple remaining on that beach when we left.
Then back to Kahalui to the airport to pick up Richard and Jack, who were joining us for a few days. Jack was a bit bummed, because he misplaced his cellphone when he got off the plane, and we never did find it. And a teenager without a cellphone? That makes for a pretty unhappy teenager!!
Stopped at Alexander’s Chicken, Fish & Ribs in Kihei for a late dinner and finally – back to the condo.
Our first week is over.
