Our Final Morning in this Most Beautiful Place
This is our final day on Maui, and we’re feeling sad about. It’s so beautiful here and I’ve never felt such peace. We both hate to leave, but the real world beckons. We’re both so grateful to Rick for this amazing trip.
Our last day had us enjoying fresh papaya and banana bread on the lanai, enjoying the absolute quiet, before heading off to Wailea Beach for our last morning of burying our feet in the sand, smelling the saltwater, hearing the waves washing onto shore, and basking in the sun. The most peaceful feeling ever.
Afternoon
After a couple of hours, we forced ourselves to leave, to come back to the condo to finish packing and cleaning up. Went into Kihei to have lunch at Peggy Sue’s – a cool little diner right out of the 50s. And they had REAL homemade shakes to boot.
Rolled out of there – their burgers were HUGE and I couldn’t even finish half of it – and Steve dropped me off at Hilo Hattie’s for a last souvenir while he went to a gas station to vacuum the sand out of the car – apparently some car rental companies charge extra for “excessive sand”!!!
Something Disgusting!
ummm… macadamia nuts are delicious. But these ones (found at Hilo Hatties)??? ugh – they sound absolutely disgusting!
Good-Bye Beautiful Maui
Back to do a last minute check to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything, and to check to see that the flight details haven’t changed, before loading up the car and heading off to Kahului. Our flight was leaving at 8:50 p.m.
So sad to leave Maui. This vacation was everything (and more) that we hoped for. Both of us found complete peace and relaxation on this amazing island.
So we left – and that was that (or as you see everywhere on Maui – “it is what it is”).
