Day 2

Today we got up about 6ish again and had fresh papaya and apple bananas for breakfast. Very yummy having fresh fruit for breakfast again. We headed for the upcountry today and took a different route than we had before. It was a bit cloudy but very hot as usual.

Arrived in Makawao about 9:15 but quite a few of the local shops were not open yet so we headed over to the Komoda Store for some coconut pastries and we split a Malasada which is a donut on a stick.

The shop of one of our favourite artists Sherri Reeve was open already so we headed in to find some cool water color prints. Sherri Reeve Web site

Nancy found three small prints to put in her new office at Husky and I found a very cool one for the man cave. We tried to go to the Volcano Spice shop for some local spices and sauces but they were not open :(

We tried them a couple of hours later after lunch but they were still closed. We had lunch at the Hali’imaile General Store in the upcountry. Nancy had Bev’s “Infamous” Baby Back Ribs and I tried the Cubawaiian Sandwich which was delicious!

Afterwards we headed back to the condo for a much needed nap. The heat just saps the strength the first few days!

Later we got up and headed down to the shops at Wailea and had some Macadamia Nut Ice Cream :)

We headed up to Kihei Town to find a necklace for Nancy to wear for dinner the next night. We are meeting one of Nancy’s new coworkers and her husband who arrived here a coupe of weeks ago.
